The International Association of Computer Information Systems supports a double-blind refereed journal—Journal of Computer Information Systems and a double-blind refereed serial publication—Issues in Information Systems.

Journal of Computer Information Systems

JCIS is an A* ranked journal. JCIS is a Refereed Publication. Published four times a year, the Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS) is the forum for IACIS members and other information system educators and professionals to present their research and ideas. Each issue provides a wealth of relevant and informative articles.

The H-Index (based on Harzing’s Publish or Perish software) of the JCIS is 31.  On average, cites per published paper in JCIS = 6.49.  

Issues in Information Systems

IIS is a Refereed Publication. Issues in Information Systems (IIS) is an official publication of the International Association for Computer Information Systems (IACIS). IIS is a double-blind refereed, serial publication of IACIS that is registered with the US Library of Congress (ISSN 1529-7314) and has been listed in Cabell's Directory of Publishing Opportunities in Management and Marketing since the 8th Edition. IIS Volume 1 was first published in 2000.

What is the difference between IIS and JCIS?

This is a frequently asked question. Both the Journal of Computer Information Systems (JCIS) and Issues in Information Systems (IIS) are publications of IACIS. JCIS is different from IIS in that JCIS is the premier official journal publication of IACIS which is published quarterly. JCIS applies a much more rigorous and lengthy review process, and it is more selective in the articles it publishes than is IIS. The acceptance rate for JCIS is 12-13%, whereas the acceptance rate for IIS is 60%.

Whereas IIS is published in conjunction with an annual conference, JCIS is not associated directly with an annual conference. The papers selected for publication in IIS are expected to be presented at the IACIS Annual Conference. The journal articles published in JCIS are completely independent of any IACIS Annual Conference participation and presentation.

Can I Resubmit to JCIS my Conference Paper Published in IIS?

No. The JCIS accepts only research papers that are original work, no part of which has been submitted for publication elsewhere (except as brief abstracts). If authors submit an abstract to the conference, then they can submit a full paper (based on that abstract) for review to JCIS. However, if they submit a full paper to the conference and that paper is accepted, their paper will be published in Issues in Information Systems and could not be published again in JCIS or any other journal. Material published in IIS by the authors before submission to any journal is considered prior publication.
